You Can Now Donate to Derian House Children’s Hospice When You Sell to Webuybooks!

Here at WeBuyBooks, we’ve introduced a brand new feature to our website and app, that allows you to donate money to a charity of your choice without spending a penny! All you have to do is sell your unwanted books, CDs, DVDs and games to us.

Donating your unwanted stuff to charity is a great way to give back. But for a charity to profit from your donations, they have to use their own resources to sell them in exchange for money. However, when you sell your books, CDs, DVDs or games to WeBuyBooks, we’ll give you the option to donate their value to charity. This way, the charity you choose will receive a monetary donation in exchange for your clutter!

Our first partnership is with Derian House, a hospice for terminally ill children.

Who is Derian House Children’s Hospice?

Derian House provides respite and end-of-life care to more than 450 children across the North West. They help young people create happy memories in a fun and respectful environment, whilst providing outstanding care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

They look after children and young people right up until their 26th birthday, offering palliative care, respite stays daycare, holidays and end of life support. As well as support that extends right across the family - to brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents.

The service Derian House provides to children and their families is, of course, free. However, their running costs total £5.7 million every year, with only 17% of this funded by the government! This means they rely massively on donations from the public to help run the hospice.

How Will Your Donation Help?

With your donation, Derian House will be able to provide exceptional care to hundreds of young people. For example, just £10 can pay for art supplies, enabling their play team to help children create treasured pieces for their loved ones, such as hand and foot prints. On the other end of the spectrum, £1000 could pay for a family to enjoy a week’s holiday at Derian lodge, giving them precious time together.

How Does Our Charity Donation Feature Work?

When you use our charity donation feature, the process of selling your books to us will remain the same as usual, but instead of entering your own payment details at checkout, you’ll choose to donate to charity. Simply choose a charity like Derian House from the dropdown list and we’ll send your money straight to them!

On average, our customers make around £30 by selling their unwanted stuff to WeBuyBooks. Plus, when you sell over £25 worth of items, we automatically increase the amount we pay out by 5%! So, that’s £31.50 that you could donate, helping out a charity like Derian House and providing joy to a child whose life is too short.
