Welcome, superhero fans, to a guide to the 10 most powerful Marvel characters. Over the past decade, Marvel has become a Hollywood powerhouse, pumping out multiple blockbuster movies and popular TV shows. There is, however, one question that remains unanswered - who is the most powerful Marvel character? In this article we are going to answer that question, by giving you the 10 most powerful Marvel characters and why we think they are the deserve their place on the list.
Now, we understand that there is no one right answer to the question of who the most powerful Marvel character is, after all, there are lots of things to consider – physical strength, range of powers, which version of the character, etc. So, after a great deal of consideration, and many heated debates in the office, we have finally picked out 10 of the strongest Marvel characters that surpass all of the others in power level.
Before we begin, this list is always up for debate, so if you think we got it wrong and you think we should include a different character, let us know! We would love to find out who you think is the most powerful, the crème de la crème, the beauty of the ball, the…. Well, you get the idea.
So, without further ado, let's take a look at the ten most powerful Marvel characters:
First on our list of the powerful Marvel characters we have Franklin Richards. Son of Mr Fantastic and The Invisible Woman, Franklin Richards first appeared in the 1968 Fantastic Four Annual #6. From an early age, Franklin Richards exhibited signs of immense power, going as far as creating pocket universes while he was still an infant. In later comics, he goes on to single-handedly recreate entire universes, revive Galactus, and even defeat Celestials! (powerful race of cosmic beings). So, with his powers of reality manipulation, universal creation, time travel, and immortality, Franklin Richards is well-deserving of a place on this list.
Next up is a bit of curveball - Phoenix is a combination of two immense powers coming together to create one super-being. Phoenix Force is an eternal, reality-warping entity that needs a host to access its full potential, and in this case, Jean Grey is by far the most iconic pairing. With an incredible roster of powers including immortality, resurrection, energy manipulation, telepathy, and telekinesis, Phoenix force has been known to wipe out entire galaxies, consume stars, and restart evolution. It’s no surprise that Phoenix Force is one of the few forces to be feared by Galactus.
The Exact amount of time that Galactus has been around is a little vague, but it is known that he existed before the Big Bang. Galactus is a being of unimaginable power able to transmute matter, consume planets, and manipulate reality on a whim. Even if you are unfamiliar with the name Galactus, you may remember the silver surfer from the 2005 Fantastic Four Film, well he was created by Galactus and served as his herald.
Originating from outside of the known multiverse, a place called the Beyond-Realm, the Beyonders were at one point considered to be the most powerful beings in the entire multiverse. With powers including reality control and matter manipulation, the Beyonders have destroyed and recreated the multiverse, but, most iconically, they created Battleworld and teleported every Marvel hero and villain onto its surface to battle it out for supremacy.
The Living Tribunal is a being whose only job is to ensure a balance between good and evil throughout the multiverse, and its power gives it the ability to step in to maintain that balance should it be required to do so. This means that the Living Tribunal can manipulate reality on a cosmic scale, which means it can rewrite literally everything, talk about OP…
Rumoured to be a manifestation of the One-Above-All, The Fulcrum is a being whose power has nearly no limits. Often depicted as a barkeep talking to dying Eternals, The Fulcrum rarely brings its full power to bear, spending most of its time as a benign background figure. With its implied omnipotence The Fulcrum takes the role of creator - observing and tweaking the flow of reality to his liking.
After an accident involving a particle generator Owen Reece gained the ability to manipulate molecules, earning him the new name of Molecule Man. With this new power, Molecule Man can rewrite anything, even time and space. The only limit to Owen Reece’s power is his self-doubt and insecurity, otherwise, there is no telling how powerful Molecule Man could be.
Probably the most well-known Marvel character on this list thanks to the Avengers film series, Thanos with the Infinite Gauntlet, is the next entry. With all of the infinite stones in his possession, Thanos has complete control over time, space, mind, soul, power, and reality, which gives him the ability to wipe out half of all life in the multiverse and defeat beings such as Galactus and Eternity.
Eternity is the physical embodiment of all life and reality, holding the power to create or snuff out life on a cosmic scale. With power so great, few beings can stand up to Eternity. Even though each universe has its own Eternity, each version of itself is connected, so they are part of the same ultra-powerful being.
As the name might suggest, none surpass The One-Above-All in power. The One-Above-All is essentially the creator of the universe, a being so powerful, so limitless, that nothing even comes close to matching its power level. With the power to make or unmake anything, reverse, speed up, stop time, and reshape reality instantaneously, it’s impossible to comprehend what or who The One-Above-All is. The One-Above-All is the most powerful character in the Marvel Universe.

Before we close for the day, there were a few honourable mentions that we couldn't just leave out. Here are some characters that were close to making the cut but were just pipped at the post.
First appearing in Sentry #1 in 2000, Sentry is a being to be reconned with. He has all the classic superhero powers including super strength and flight, but beyond these, he also has the ability to project pure energy and manipulate matter on a molecular level, a potent mix.
Perhaps best known for her role in Marvel’s Avengers and WanderVision, the Scarlett Witch is a being whose power can match up to the best of them. The Scarlett Witch, otherwise known as Wanda Maximoff, has control over chaos magic, wields the ability to manipulate matter, and can warp reality.
Everyone has heard of Doctor Strange, even those who aren’t fans of Marvel, Benedict Cumberbatch probably has something to do with that… Alone, Doctor Strange is a powerful being, but when he has control of the Cloak of Levitation, Book of Vishanti, Orb of Agamotto, and several other spells, he is nigh on undefeatable.
Protégé gets its power by mimicking others which sounds like an ‘okay’ power, but when you realise that Protégé can mimic literally anyone or anything, you start to see just how powerful it can become. Such is Protégé's power that it managed to learn and copy the power of The Living Tribunal, almost replacing it entirely.
Abraxas is an all-around unpleasant kinda guy. With the ability to warp reality, space, and time, Abraxas is the living embodiment of chaos and destruction. Some of his greatest feats include defeating multiple versions of Galactus, destroying universes, and threatening to unravel the entire multiverse. At his peak, the only way to defeat Abraxas was with a weapon called the Ultimate Nullifier, a weapon that effectively resets everything, not something you can find at your local corner shop.
