The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist

blogimages-springcleaning-checklist.png

The time is upon us again, that time of year to raid your arsenal of feather dusters, polish and rubber gloves. We all know that spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to shrug off last winter's dusty clutter in preparation for the coming summer. Before you start the mammoth task of getting your home back in order, however, take a few minutes to read this totally essential guide on how to cut the clutter from your life with maximal efficiency …well at least until next spring.

What follows is a checklist that covers all the tools and tick-boxes essential to a successful household cleanse.

 Make a List

First of all, let's kick things off with the planning phase. Let’s face it, we aren’t going to get very far without a solid plan. Whether it’s in the form of a schedule or just a spring clean checklist, getting it all down on paper is a crucial first step.

Decide What’s Clutter and What’s Not

We like to break up our spring cleaning into two sections, starting with the decluttering phase, we need to cut down on everything that we don’t or no longer need, followed by the cleaning phase, which we will get on to shortly. So, before you can start cleaning anything you need to cut down on your clutter. Start by assessing all of your stuff and deciding what is clutter and what is not. This is by far the hardest part, deciding what goes and what stays can cause civil war in even the tightest of family units (be sure not to let this happen).

Decide What to do With Your Clutter

Once you have dealt with the issue of deciding what to get rid of and what to keep, you need to think about what you are going to do with all that unwanted clutter. Here are a few suggestions on places to offload your clutter:

  • Books, CDs, DVDs and Games – WeBuyBooks
  • Video games, consoles, toys, LEGO – WeBuyGames
  • Clothes – Vinted
  • Vintage Items - Vintage Cash Cow
  • Household Stuff - eBay

Cleaning Next

Once all that clutter has been dealt with, you can start your full cleanse from start to bottom, so grab some spray and a cloth and start cleaning. Don’t be afraid to dive in and tackle the tough bits first, like the bathroom and kitchen, you will feel much better once they are done and out of the way. Another thing to think about before you start your cleaning frenzy is what products you are going to use, why not try switching out your usual cleaning products in favour of some of the more environmentally friendly cleaning products and make a small change that can have a big impact.

Ask for Someone’s Opinion on Progress

Here at WeBuyBooks we have a phrase, ‘the longer you stare at something, the harder it is to see’, this can be applied especially to cleaning. Don’t be afraid to ask for someone else’s opinion, just a quick once-over from a fresh pair of eyes is bound to pick up on a few missed spots.

Try Something New

Now that everything is spotless and gleaming why not take the opportunity to have a little mix-up; have a play around with the feng shui, try rearranging some furniture or give the walls a fresh coat of paint, even the smallest touch can make a world of difference.

Now, all that remains is to sit back and enjoy your spotless home in peace. We hope these few spring cleaning tips have helped you achieve the home that you are after. Don’t forget, if you have any books, CDs, DVDs or games sitting around collecting dust, head over to our website here to see how much money they could make you!
