A Parent’s Guide to Making Some Extra Cash the Easy Way

A Parent’s Guide to Making Some Extra Cash the Easy Way

It’s always nice to get a new job or a salary increase, but these things take time, and they usually aren’t that much!

Or maybe you’re a stay-at-home parent that needs to make a little extra cash on the side for a day-to-day house running or a holiday and need something that won’t take you away from your kid’s all day.

We’ve rounded up a few ways that can help you create a bit of extra cash, whatever you need it for.

1. We Buy Books

We Buy Books

If you have books, games, CDs or DVDs lying around your house and you don’t know what to do with them, use the We Buy Books app or website. You can sell your unwanted items to We Buy Books and make some extra cash in the process, which is particularly useful if you’re a bookworm, gamer or media connoisseur.

It’s easy as well; if you’re on the website, open your selling basket and enter your ISBNs, accept our offer and send your items free of charge. Once we’ve checked them, we’ll pay you the following day. If you use the app, the process is the same but you can use our barcode scanner to speed up the process.

2. Facebook Marketplace

While many of us have a Facebook account, not all are aware of the local marketplace service that Facebook offers. If you have goods you don’t want and you’d rather sell your goods locally then Facebook Marketplace is brilliant.

The best thing about Facebook Marketplace is that if you already have a Facebook account you can use it to sell your goods – and there are plenty of parents on Facebook browsing for goods. It’s easy to get started and begin making cash!

3. Monetise a Hobby

Monetise a Hobby

Many stay-at-home parents that can’t go to work because they have kids or parents that have a skill outside of work choose to try and monetise a hobby (and sometimes turn it into a business).

There are plenty of ways you can monetise a hobby – such as jewellery making, teaching someone a skill you’ve honed for years like playing an instrument or mobile beauty treatments. And if you don’t have any hobbies, now’s the time to start learning!

4. Become an Influencer

Become an Influencer

Most of us post on social media sites like Instagram now anyway, so if you can find a way to monetise your social media platform you can generate some extra income that way.

It won’t happen overnight, but if you already have a big following you’re halfway there anyway – you need a product you can market, as well as yourself and a knack for taking great photos.
