Revealed: Our Favourite Roald Dahl Characters

Revealed: Our Favourite Roald Dahl CharactersThis month marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl and on September 13th 2016 fans from across the world will pay tribute to the greatest storyteller of all time with a host of activities and celebrations.

To get in on the act we’ve put together our favourite Roald Dahl characters, let’s see if you agree with our selections…

The BFGThe BFG

Fun, kind and a barrel of laughs the BFG is one of Roald Dahl’s most famous characters.

His way, or muddled up way, with words is just one of the many reasons why we love him!

“Dreams is full of mystery and magic . . . . Do not try to understand them.”

matildaMatilda

An extraordinary child with incredibly harsh parents Matilda is the perfect heroine.

A huge book lover with crafty magical powers and the defeater of Miss Trunchbull, how can you not love her?

“I’m wondering what to read next.” Matilda said. “I’ve finished all the children’s books.”

willy-wonkaWilly Wonka

When you think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory you’ll immediately think of Willy Wonka!

A chocolate making genius Wonka loves causing mischief, which is why so many people love him.

“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.”

fantastic-mr-foxFantastic Mr Fox

Not only was Fantastic Mr Fox a master at digging tunnels but he was a true hero!

The foxy fox always had his family’s best interests at heart when stealing food from rich farmers and he did so with great style and courage! We love it when the underdog, or fox, comes out on top!

“I understand what you’re saying, and your comments are valuable, but I’m gonna ignore your advice.”

charlie-and-the-choc-factoryAugustus Gloop

I doubt many of you would have expected Augustus Gloop to feature, but he has and for one reason only!

The moment he falls into the chocolate river and is sucked through a pipe is comedy gold!

“I feel very sorry for Wonka. It’s gonna cost him a fortune in fudge.”

the-twitsMr and Mrs Twit

Smelly, ugly and revolting what’s not to love about the horrible couple called Mr and Mrs Twit?

The pair spend most of their time terrorising anyone or anything, including each other! And while sometimes it’s completely repulsive it’s hilarious at the same time!

“Mr Twit was a twit. He was born a twit. And now at the age of sixty, he was a bigger twit than ever.”
