6 Must Read Books this Summer

Compiling a list of books to read over the summer can feel like an impossible task, there are so many out there that deserve your attention, but you only have a limited amount of time over the holidays.

Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee

As any literature enthusiast is sure to know, this manuscript, by the author of To Kill A Mockingbird, was recently discovered, and is set to be released this summer. The novel features a grown-up Scout Finch, and is one of the most hotly anticipated books of the year. If Watchman doesn’t make your summer reading list, we’re not sure what will.

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

If you’re searching for a fast-paced page turner, look no further. In many ways this is a typical “what happens when your past catches up with you” style story, although the compelling nature of Mackintosh’s writing is sure to make you forget that.

In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume

This is best-selling author Judy Blume’s fictional take on three plane crashes in the early 1950s. With intricately linked character stories, it’s easy to forget who’s who, but don’t let that put you off, published at the start of June this year, this book has already been met with rave reviews.

Beach Town by Mary Kay Andrews

As the title suggests, this may well be the ultimate beach read. Beach Town focuses on Greer Hennessy, a movie location scout who needs to find an idyllic beach location for a movie if she’s to have any hope of saving her career. With plenty of drama and romance, this is a feel good novel if ever there was one.

Escape from Baghdad by Saad Hossain

Weird, but wildly wonderful, this book is set in war torn Iraq, and is quite simply impossible to put down.

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosch

This is a quick and funny read, but is none the less clever. Written by one hugely intelligent lady, this is sure to please anyone, and everyone. Plus, Bill Gates recommended it,you can’t argue with that!
